This exciting new conference is organised by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Equine Welfare Research Foundation (the “Foundation”), with international partners: the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, USA; the Horserace Betting Levy Board, UK; and the Japan Racing Association.
The meeting will focus on the role of science in finding solutions for issues that threaten the safety and welfare of the Thoroughbred racehorse. It will create a unique opportunity for important stakeholders in racing to learn about the latest research findings, to understand challenges faced by researchers and to help shape a research agenda that is pertinent to the sport. Researchers will have a chance to develop contacts at the leading edge of racing and to meet colleagues with similar interests from around the world.
The conference will be of direct relevance to racing officials, regulators, veterinarians, research scientists, trainers, jockeys and all those with an interest in the safety and welfare of horses in racing.
